All you need to get started with soap making
[thb_gap height=”80″]My Weight KD-7000 Digital Stainless-Steel Scale
This scale is a must have in every soap maker’s equipment kit. It is a fairly priced piece of equipment, really sturdy and durable, easy to clean and super reliable.
I’ve had mine for 2 years now and it is as strong as when I first got it.
It weights up to 7kg (15lb), and it has accuracy of 0.5
You can use it in lb/oz or Kg/g, it is as easy as it gets to set up, and you can choose to use batteries or buy a charger. I just had to change my batteries now for the first time in 2 years of intense use.
Cuisinart 2-Speed Immersion Hand Blender
This stick blender is another equipment that I’ve had for over 2 years now, and it is still going strong.
It is powerful, and it has two speeds.
It is large enough for me to make 5kg/13lb batches.
Its cord is long enough to allow me to take a comfortable position around my table and buckets while I soap.
It is easy to clean up, specially because the top part detaches from the bottom part, so I can just let it soak in water until I am ready to wash it.
Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 Thermometer Gun
Another simple yet effective tool that every soap maker has, the laser thermometer.
This specific model is used really often for making soap, and is usually the recommendation you will get if you ask around.
The price is pretty good, and you get to measure temperatures from -58℉~1022℉ (-50℃~550℃) from a safe distance.
It’s accuracy is of 0.1 ℃ or 0.1°F.
Safety Goggles
Safety goggles are one of the most important components of your soap making kit.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to protect your eyes – and skin , we will get there soon – specially if you are just starting.
While you shouldn’t be afraid of making soap you should ALWAYS be as careful as you can. Lye and raw soap can truly hurt your eyes and skin, and you don’t want this to happen.
These glasses are cheap and effective. Not only I use it for soap making, I have been using it during lab sessions since college (where I studied Chemistry).
